How Models Prepare for a CLOS Virtual Photoshoot — 6 Tips

A short pre-shoot checklist for models and subjects shooting remotely with CLOS — location scouting, lighting, device prep, storage and uploads.

A great virtual photoshoot starts before anyone joins the room. If you’re the model or subject, a few minutes of prep makes the shoot smoother for everyone — especially the photographer running it remotely. The same prep applies for remote casting and video testimonials.

The 6-step checklist

  1. Share location photos with the photographer ahead of time. They can plan compositions and direct you faster.
  2. Schedule in daylight when possible. Phone cameras are dramatically better in natural light.
  3. Wipe the camera lens. A microfibre cloth (the kind you use for sunglasses) works perfectly. Smudges show up on every frame.
  4. Check storage on your phone. We recommend at least 10 GB free before the shoot starts.
  5. Plan your device setup. A tripod is best. If you don’t have one, improvise — duct tape, books, anything that holds the phone steady at the right angle.
  6. Plan for the upload. If the photographer is shooting with CLOS Cloud, exit the room after the shoot, leave the app open, and keep the device unlocked until the upload finishes.
